Lets be honest here. We have more volunteers for a number of reasons. Some good some bad.
On the good side we have increased the base pay and offered bonuses to join the military. On the negative side, we have relaxed standards so that more people are "acceptable" AND the job market is horrible. In other word we threw money at the problem, opened the gates wide open to accept everyone (not just the best) and finally young people have no better options in the private space
What standards have been lowered since Trump has been CINC? "we threw money at the problem." If you are insinuating the our military members are overpaid, you can kiss my ass. They have always been on the shitty end of the stick when it comes to pay raises. And I can remember way back in the day when some criminals were offered the choice between prison or military service. And the job market is better than it has been in years. Sounds like your views may be skewed by TDS.
